Indroduction

Central Prison Mardan, located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, was established in 2015 to meet the growing demands of the local correctional system. Designed to accommodate a substantial number of inmates, the prison has an authorized capacity of 1,980 prisoners. It covers an extensive 375 kanal of land, providing ample space for various facilities and security infrastructure to ensure the safe and humane confinement of detainees.

The upgrade of Central Prison Mardan from a District Jail was a significant step in improving regional correctional facilities, particularly in managing the rising number of detainees in the area. The prison is equipped with modern amenities that ensure the rights of inmates are upheld, while maintaining stringent security measures to prevent escapes and violence within its walls. The facility offers both administrative and rehabilitation services, focusing not only on confinement but also on the reformation of inmates through educational and vocational training programs.

Strategically located in Mardan District, the prison is easily accessible and well-positioned for effective security management and oversight of both prisoners and staff. As part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to enhance the justice system, Central Prison Mardan continues to play a crucial role in the region’s correctional landscape, contributing to law and order while prioritizing inmate welfare and rehabilitation.
